And the program was flexible enough for my difficult schedule as a single mom.’ After completing the program in July, Ruth started an internship at Middlesex Hospital doing what she loves.īimael Acevedo knew the moment he started MxCC that becoming a certified Phlebotomy Technician was the career for him. Ruth believes the best part of her training was learning by doing, ‘you can’t get knowledge just from books, we had lots of hands-on practice that made me more confident. Being a single mom with limited resources made it difficult, but the SNAP program at MxCC made it possible. Ruth Martinez dreamed of working in healthcare as a Phlebotomy Technician. Nadyaliz has now decided to continue her education and will be starting the Vet Tech program here at Middlesex Community College in the Fall! “The instructors at MxCC were always great at explaining what exactly to do, and I loved all the hands on clinical experiences.” After completing the program, she got a full time job at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Hospital as a Neurologist Vet Assistant. When she found MxCC’s Vet Assistant program through the SNAP program, she jumped at the opportunity. Growing up Nadyaliz Muniz always loved animals and knew she wanted to work in the veterinary field. ![]() Emma is so grateful for MxCC and the CT Pathway program for allowing her to chase her dreams and find her perfect career. Emma has now decided to go back to school to pursue a degree as a Veterinary Technician at San Juan College of New Mexico. Before completing the program, she was offered a full time position at Branford Veterinary Hospital. ![]() Emma went from feeling very stuck to having the chance to do what she loved. Emma credits the CT Pathway program at MxCC for giving her the ability to take the classes required to become a Veterinary Assistant. Meet Emma Ryan, an MxCC grad who recently completed the Veterinary Assistant Program. Dakota says that reaching for a goal does not need to be a race, but more like taking one step at a time-even by crawling-to get to the finish line! They encourage everyone to hold onto HOPE and ask for help when needed, especially during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. With dedication and a network of support, including from the professor, Dakota is on their way to a financially rewarding profession. ![]() As a CT Pathways recipient, Dakota was able to advance their pay level by enrolling in and graduating from the CT Pathways online Pharmacy Technician program. Dakota, who identifies as a non-binary person, came to MxCC needing a way to make more than minimum wage while being enrolled in a three-year graduate degree program at one of the state universities. Money was very tight and learning how to navigate the online class portals while trying to do the best job she could as a mother to keep her child and herself safe was very HARD to say the least. She was faced with the challenges of living through a pandemic with only her child and no one else to rely on. She was one of the first students enrolled in this online program.
